1. Overview

At MetricViewer, we believe your data belongs to you. We designed our application architecture specifically to avoid collecting personal information. Your monitoring data never leaves your local network, and we do not store personal data on our servers.

There is one exception, and we would rather state it plainly than bury it: the app sends diagnostic reports when it crashes, or when you choose to report a problem. These are described in section 3, including what they never contain.

2. Data Handling

We distinguish between two types of data:

  • Monitoring Telemetry (CPU, GPU, FPS, etc.): This data is processed 100% locally on your PC and transmitted directly to your mobile device over your LAN. It never connects to the internet or our servers.
  • License Verification (Pro Users only): To validate your Pro license, a unique and anonymous Hardware Identifier (GUID) is briefly sent to our secure verification server (Google Cloud Functions). This data is used solely to sign a cryptographic token and is immediately discarded. We do not store your Machine ID, IP address, or link it to your personal identity database.

3. Diagnostic Reports

To find and fix failures we cannot reproduce, MetricViewer sends diagnostic reports to Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), a third-party error monitoring service whose servers are located in the United States.

Two kinds of reports are sent:

  • Automatically, when the app or the PC daemon hits an unexpected failure it cannot recover from. These are rare by nature.
  • Manually, only when you choose to send one using the "Report a problem" option. You may optionally include a description written by you.

A report contains:

  • The app version, your operating system version, and the technical details of the failure.
  • The state of the connection and of the pairing process, and a short trail of the steps that led to the failure.

A report never contains:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information.
  • Your licence or pairing tokens.
  • The address of your PC, or the addresses of devices on your network.
  • Which programs or games you are running, or your hardware serial numbers.

Reports are not used for advertising, profiling, or analytics, and are not shared with anyone other than the service named above. On Windows, you can turn diagnostic reports off completely by setting Telemetry.Enabled to false in the daemon's appsettings.json. Turning them off does not limit any feature.

4. Permissions

The application requires specific permissions to function correctly:

  • Windows (Daemon): Administrator privileges are required solely to read hardware sensors (temperatures, voltages, fan speeds) via low-level drivers.
  • Android/iOS (App): Local Network permission is required to discover and connect to your PC. Camera permission is required solely to scan the pairing QR code.

5. Third-Party Services

The "Pro" version of MetricViewer is handled via In-App Purchases through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Financial transactions are processed entirely by these platforms; we never see or store your credit card information.

We also rely on Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) for the diagnostic reports described in section 3, and on RevenueCat and Firebase (Google) to verify purchases and to sign in, if you choose to create an account.
