Frequently Asked Questions

Solutions to common problems.

Why are CPU/GPU temperatures missing?

First, Windows requires low-level privileges to read hardware sensors. Please right-click 'MetricViewerDaemon.exe' and select Run as Administrator. You can set this permanently in the file Compatibility properties.

Additionally, due to the vast variety of PC configurations, some specific motherboards or components may not be fully supported yet, making certain metrics unavailable.

How do I enable the FPS counter?

For the best compatibility with modern games (DX12/Vulkan) and Anti-Cheats, we recommend running RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS). MetricViewer detects it automatically to fetch accurate Frame Rate and Frametime data.

Connection failed. What should I do?

Make sure both your PC and Phone are on the SAME Wi-Fi network (AP Isolation disabled). Check that your Windows Firewall isn't blocking 'MetricViewerDaemon.exe' on port 5055.

Does it affect my gaming performance?

Negligible impact. The daemon is written in optimized native C# and uses less than 0.1% CPU. It reads memory directly without injecting heavy hooks into your games.

Can I use an old tablet or phone?

Absolutely! MetricViewer is very lightweight and supports older Android versions. It's the perfect use case to repurpose an old device as a permanent dedicated sensor display.

Is my data sent to the cloud?

Your performance metrics (FPS, Temps, etc.) NEVER leave your local network.

If you use the Pro version, a strictly anonymous device ID is briefly checked against our licensing server to validate your purchase, but it is never stored.

Can I customize the widgets?

Yes! Long press on any widget to drag and reorder. We are working on resizing and color themes for future updates.
